7am - all was serene in the house, except for some bleary-eyed people padding about. "We only slept three hours," Nhi admitted.
It was the day for which she and Truong worked so diligently the last few months. It was THE DAY. Yet if Nhi was nervous or stressed, she really didn't show it- she was as elegant as the strand of pearls atop her dresser:

I left her home to let her get ready, and headed over to the groom's home, where the excitement was palpable. Everyone was ready to receive the bride at her home, a tradition in the Vietnamese custom. This would involve a procession of the groom's family and friends bearing all kinds of gifts, including a roast pig:

Truong rallied his troops into the stretch limo - the man has style!

The groom's procession arrived at the bride's home, where her family and friends met Truong and his group outside:

and they quickly gathered around for the tea ceremony.
In the meantime, Nhi slipped on her traditional dress:

Truong patiently awaited his bride, and when she made her grand entrance, he could not take his eyes off her:



The ceremony proceeded to the bride's ancestral altar for blessings, followed by the tea and candle ceremony, and many heartfelt speeches:






Then off to the groom's home, where Nhi was introduced to the rest of Truong's family:







Nhi's gorgeous Vera Wang dress awaited her for the next leg of their wedding day festivities:

With an innocent twinkle in his eyes, the sixth grader emerged from behind the bleachers and introduced himself.

"I'm Thomas. Nice to meet you, Miss Heather."

I was taken by the old soul quality in this boy and ended up talking to him at length while his sister and my daughter pranced across the balance beam in their gymnastics class. It was clear that his mother, Julie (now a dear friend of mine), was extremely proud of him.

This may be the understatement of the century, but his family is prouder still of who he has become - a man of upright character; articulate with a twist of humor; strikingly handsome without a hint of arrogance... I could go on and on. Are you blushing yet, Thomas?



If you're not, girls far and wide sure are now -

With or without the fedora, you will move and shake this world!

You remember Cassie and Jeremy, don't you? It was a scorching, late summer wedding the last I photographed them, so this couple wasn't fazed by the heat. Howie happily tagged along:

Then he rested in a shady spot as Mom and Dad continued on with the session:
